Horsinalities 101

Animal assisted programs recognize the bond between humans and horses and the potential for emotional healing when the two create a bond.

Horse Rescue

We have rescued, rehabilitated and placed several horses that were abused, neglected, or headed for slaughter.  These horses are now thriving thanks to the dedication of CVMR’s members and friends.

Horse Rescue

A one year old colt Buckskin arrived at the Coachella Valley Horse Rescue ranch on September 05,2015. He is settling in quite well at our ranch after a long haul from Fallon Nevada. He was out bided and saved from being purchased by kill buyers who wanted to profit by sending horses to slaughter. He was given a second chance on life!

Scouting Programs

Local Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops have completed and are currently working on several projects at our Ranch.  This enables them to fulfill the requirements and obtain their badges.

Annual Auction

  • People come and go but horses leave hoof prints on your heart.
  • When people say it’s JUST a horse, they JUST don’t understand…
  • If you haven’t fallen off a horse…then you haven’t been ridin long enough.
  • My favorite breed is RESCUE.
  • I've often said there's nothing better for the inside of a man than the outside of a horse.
  • When people say it’s JUST a horse, they JUST don’t understand…
  • Will is to grace as the horse is to the rider.
  • Horse sense is the thing a horse has which keeps it from betting on people.

The Desert Recreation District partnered with us for the Horsinalities Boot Camp for Veterans pilot program. We are very blessed to have heroes partner with our rescued horses. We will start again in January. We are a 501c3 and are actively seeking compassionate donors to sponsor our rescue horses and Veterans for our January program.

Subject: Thank you for believing

Questions were asked on thier last night.
What were you looking forward to before coming tonight?
What change in yourself do you see from the beginning and now?
Greg: continuing to build my confidence. Up for the challenge. Bill: abused horses that had a rough life and their life now. How it mirrors people's life. Now they are different. Both Buttercup and I are more relaxed.
Lobo: getting back with the guys. More relaxed. Comfortable. Art: having a good time and learning all kinds of stuff. I know a lot more now and it is awesome. I can't wait until next week. This is so much fun!
Sean: the peace and quiet. A break from the choas. The evolution of everything. We are a big happy family. We built this group from the ground up and we are all still here. I am not where I was when we started 4 months ago and I won't be where I am 4 months from now. It's all about the present. Fynn: Getting on a horse. Being able to share the experience with the horse, and I think I did ok. From the first time I came until tonight the experience has been validating. I came in with an open mind that I was going to have a life changing experience but I did not know it would be that profound. I was not expecting it to change my life, I found myself. I found out it's ok to help myself, it's not being selfish.
Sara: I feel accomplished. It is all about trust. Liberating. I was looking forward to being a part of something with people that understand me. Here I just get to be myself.
As for Dave and I as the group leaders, we are so grateful to have this opportunity to help give Veterans a night to enjoy, grow while getting out of their comfort zone and bond with each other and the horses. The horses love having another purpose while being appreciated and loved.
We are all blessed!

Horsinalities Boot CampPhoto by: "Veterans Safe Return Home"

Id like to share my first day experience at the Coachella Valley Horse Rescue's, "Horsinalities Boot Camp", Veteran Healing Program. This is horse painting art. Literally a horse did this art and created a portrait of their rider. The rider did not recognize herself until I pointed out the face I saw in the painting. This is why I'm trying to evolve past all this hate around our country. If a horse can paint pictures with it's mouth, then we truly know nothing. Now this woman Annette has a non-profit called, "Coachella Valley Horse Rescue". Where she and another veteran work on abused horses and have developed this amazing program for vets dealing with PTSD. Abused horses and vets healing together. I spent just 2 hours with a horse and I will be spending more time in this wonderful program. I am changed forever and deep emotions and pain inside were released with the help of the horse. Horses can see inside you they do not judge, just help cleanse and heal. Case in point. We had a little exercise, where we and the horse were in the square. So at first we thought we had to just and keep the horse in the sqaure. We thought we were being tested. No we were bonding. The horse immediatly bonded to me a saw I was a little nervous. We further bond and he was keeping his head outside the sqaure. I'll explain the signifigence later in the paragraph. He then started chewing on the log and pushed it a little forward. I then asked the horse to please move it back if he didn't mind cause I was not ready to leave the sqaure yet. He heard me, then proceeded to use his teeth to roll the log back into a complete sqaure. I thanked him. There are three types of horses. Shy, bully, and leader. The horse saw that I was a leader and adjuste accordingly. The horse saw internally what's really going on in my head. That I wanted to break out of the box but understood that it's not time to break out yet but to build. He keep his head outside the box to signify that although I think outside the box, some structure and order is also important and neccessary. This is a lesson I am recently going through right now and I believe the horse knew this. We then broke out of the box took off his reigns and he started walking with me, cause it was time. Please support and share this wonderful program.
